Finding the Treasure
New products are coming out every year, and if you are like me, while in the woods I discover some short fall in my equipment. I think “it sure would be nice if I had a piece of equipment that _____”, you fill in the blank. Has your tree stand ever creaked? Has the wool from your mitten gotten caught on the thumb safety of you rifle while the deer watched (this happened to me near Leesburg, Virginia!)? Has your arrow fallen off of the rest just as you were half way to a full draw on a Royal Bull Elk? You start to make a mental list of the things that will make your hunt next week or next year more successful.
Then it happens. Those catalogs start coming in the summer. Isn’t it fun to look through all those catalogs that come in the mail prior to hunting season? To dream, plan, to search for the new piece of equipment that has been developed since the last hunting season! You’ll spend hours reading reviews or asking others about this or that item. Then you find it! You know that new product. You spend time thinking about how you could have used it last year.
Would you like to ask God a question that will grab His heart every time? A question that He longs to hear? A question that will bring Him to His knees to get His heart close to ours? Ask Him, “what can I use today that will help my life be more significant to further the Gospel of Christ?”. Browsing through magazines and catalogs has its place but it should never take the place of Christ. Matt 6:21 says, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Just maybe it is time to put down the magazines and catalogs and to see what good bit of wisdom God would like to give you.
Matt 6:21
“where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”
